It is perhaps unsurprising that the Canada Revenue Agency’s website is probably the best online resource on tax matters. Every tax form and tax guide published by the CRA can be found on the website and there is hardly a need to look elsewhere for most straightforward tax questions. CGA Ontario’s free booklet 2008-09 Personal Tax Planning Guide, which is also available in print form through participating public libraries, is filled with basic information about personal taxes.
KPMG Canada’s catalogue of online tax publications includes in-depth analysis of the latest income tax developments, especially in the Canadian Tax Adviser and Tax News Flash Canada sections.
Ernst & Young’s Canadian Tax Page has useful tips (such as this list of top tax tips), tax calculators & personal tax rate tables and a free tax guide titled “Managing your personal taxes”.
Tim Cestnick writes a regular column for The Globe and Mail titled “Tax Matters”. You can find a treasure trove of past articles archived on his website.
Tax expert, Jamie Golembeck, writes columns for The National Post and other publications and has archived his articles on his webpage. (Just leave all the fields blank and click ‘Search’ to get a list of articles available).
The Taxtips.ca website carries articles on taxes, tax rate tables and tax calculators.
The Income Tax Estimator by Walter Harder & Associates is probably one of the best online tax calculators available.
