  1. The New York Times featured a compendium of back-of-the-napkin drawings and blog posts that explain the basics of intelligent investing.
  2. Luck plays a huge role in how our investments perform over the time period we are invested in the markets. We may not be able to control what the market gods deign to give us but we can focus on the things under our control.
  3. Rob Carrick wrote a column on what investors can learn from the way the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board manages its $130 billion portfolio.
  4. Canadian Financial stuff continues to share his experience in opening a Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) for his son.
  5. Retailers are offering extended warranties on everything these days. Just the other day, Toys R Us tried to sell us an extended warranty on a $30 toy laptop! Money Gardener noticed that Sears has an interesting twist on extended warranties.
  6. Million Dollar Journey published a guest post on why investors should not confuse the economy with the stock market.
  7. Preet fielded a reader question on whether one could replace value stocks with a fundamental index.
  8. Money Smarts Blog featured a guest post that lists the reasons why this is a good time to invest with Other People’s Money. As always, I’m not sold on the idea.
  9. Canadian Couch Potato fries Paul Farrell, a long-time MarketWatch columnist for subscribing to doomsday predictions while at the same time advocating Lazy Portfolios.
  10. Larry MacDonald highlights recent research that shows investors would have beaten the markets if they simply copied Berkshire Hathaway’s public disclosure of its stock holdings. Buffett Copycat ETFs are said to be in the works.
  11. Got married recently? Gail Vaz-Oxlade lists the five things-to-do for the newly married.
  12. The Financial Blogger thinks that the Canadian Housing Market will be the next bubble to collapse.
  13. Tiny Potato, a new tater in town, on the different bank account arrangements that couples tend to have.

I’m unable to highlight all the interesting articles I run across in my round-up but you can check them out through my Twitter feed. Have a great weekend everyone!
